Art Exhibition

Art Exhibition Celebrating World Book Day at Aintree Davenhill Primary.

Drawing and literature go hand in hand. We are all familiar with illustrated books but it doesn't stop there.

Drawing has the power to increase understanding, enjoyment and engagement across the curriculum.

On Thursday 26th February Miss Garnett had the pleasure of judging an Art Exhibition organised by Shelagh McNicholas, children's book illustrator and Art Teacher at Aintree Davenhill Primary School. The Judging panel included Ian Moncur, Cabinet Minister for families and schools and Mrs Ridway, Head of Art at Deyes High school.

The children of Aintree Davenhill, Melling County and Holy Rosary Primary School had collaborated together to showcase their artistic talents, celebrating World Book Day.

The art work was created by Reception children up to and including children in year 6 and was exhibited at Aintree Davenhill on Monday 2nd March.

There was a huge variety of media, detailed pencil drawings, watercolours, poster paints, colour pencils, soft pastels, mixed media and 3D work.

Prizes were donated by Molyneux Ward council budget and Maghull High School Art Department.

Miss Garnett was very impressed by all of the Art work entered into the competition and hopes to see some of the budding young artists in her year 7 class in September.  A very well done to all involved!
