Headteacher’s Welcome

Maghull High School is proud of its ethos and standing within the community. Our talented and committed staff are dedicated to enabling each pupil to reach his or her full potential and to become mature and responsible citizens. We have a vibrant extra-curricular life not only through our specialist status as a Performing Arts College but also through our extensive sports programme and cultural experiences.

We have a long standing and supportive partnership with the Southport Learning Trust and will have completed the formal transfer to join their Multi Academy Trust on 1 November 2020.  Joining the Trust will help to further improve the life chances of all students we teach and achieve excellent outcomes for the children of Maghull High School.

School Exchange to China

Last week, five members of our teaching staff paid a return visit to Minggang High School in the town of Beilun in Ningbo, China. The staff enjoyed five days of cultural exchange and had the opportunity to observe lessons in the school, discuss educational practice and policy with staff and attend the school’s art exhibition. As well as this, staff discussed opportunities to share ideas in mathematics, art, sport and science and how to develop our student links further through the use of IT. The group also enjoyed a visit to a renowned local kindergarten and a special school called the Sunshine School. They found out lots about local business by visiting the Beilun port, an import centre and a clothing factory, as well as the mountain wind farm. Our Chinese friends were extremely welcoming and the staff involved are now experts in using chopsticks. The link between our school and Minggang has been further strengthened by the visit and there are plans for a return visit by the Chinese staff and students, after which we hope to take some of our students to Beilun.
