Headteacher’s Welcome

Maghull High School is proud of its ethos and standing within the community. Our talented and committed staff are dedicated to enabling each pupil to reach his or her full potential and to become mature and responsible citizens. We have a vibrant extra-curricular life not only through our specialist status as a Performing Arts College but also through our extensive sports programme and cultural experiences.

We have a long standing and supportive partnership with the Southport Learning Trust and will have completed the formal transfer to join their Multi Academy Trust on 1 November 2020.  Joining the Trust will help to further improve the life chances of all students we teach and achieve excellent outcomes for the children of Maghull High School.

Easter Letter From Mr Anderson

On behalf of all the staff and Governors may I take this opportunity to thank you for your support this term and wish you and your family a restful Easter break. We return to school at normal time on Monday 15th April, when the days will be longer and hopefully the temperatures significantly warmer!

The Summer term is naturally hugely important for students in year 11 and Sixth Form, and it is essential that all pupils ensure that their behaviour is calm and respectful so that we can do all possible to support our older students in the run up to their examinations.

With this in mind we will be paying particular regard to the importance of basic matters such as movement around the school, punctuality to lessons, correct uniform and being equipped for learning. Should you wish to refer to the basic uniform requirements then they are listed on page 6 of the Student Planner. May I stress that school footwear must be entirely black and that, although we permit trainer style shoes, there must be no visible logos, stripes, white laces etc. The only jewellery permitted is a watch and no more than one pair of plain ear studs. Excessive make-up, including false nails and eyelashes, must not be worn.

We will continue to have senior staff monitoring uniform on arrival at school and would ask parents to check that their children remember to come to school with a bag containing the necessary equipment for learning (pens, pencils, planner, ruler, rubber). I have asked staff to check equipment in each lesson at the start of term.

I am sure that you will want to support my view that, in terms of uniform and equipment, what applies to one must apply to all, and therefore I give notice that we reserve the right to send home any student who is not properly dressed or equipped. I would also like to remind parents that the school has a uniform fund which will help any family which is unable to supply uniform due to acute financial circumstances. We want all of our students to aspire to achieve their best; being ready to learn and being properly dressed is one small but important way in which we achieve this goal.

Finally, may I remind you that urgent messages and “hot” news will be posted on the school website and tweeted at @headmaghull.
