Writing competition

Emma is a winner in Sefton writing competition

Year 10 pupil, Emma Brown, entered her poem “The Drawer”, in the competition ‘Sefton Celebrates Writing.’ A few weeks ago she received an e-mail inviting her and her English Teacher, Mrs Tramantano, to the awards evening. They suspected at that point that she might have received an award, but couldn’t be sure. The event was held at the Clifton Hotel in Southport – the room was full and the presenter was David Lonsdale of ‘Heartbeat.’ Firstly the runners-up were announced – and Emma’s name was called out!

Emma received a cheque, a certificate and was invited to read her poem which she did, wonderfully – though Mrs Tramantano did notice her hands were slightly shaking! Whose wouldn’t in front of all those people?

During the evening, all the winners read out their work and were entertained by a professional rasta Liverpudlian rap poet too!

Hopefully, more pupils will enter the competition next year – but in the meantime – WELL DONE EMMA! WE’RE PROUD OF YOU!
