Realising Ambition- Anne Frank Trust

Over 800 students from years 7-11 have been involved in the Realising Ambition programme with the Anne Frank Trust over the last two weeks. Supported by our team of 20 year 8 peer guides, trained by the Anne Frank Trust ,our students learnt about the Anne frank story in detail whilst also finding out about the historical events which effected the citizens of Europe during this period . We were also very lucky to welcome Faye an 86 year old lady originally from Gdansk ( formerly the free city of Danzig in Poland) , who came to Liverpool as an 11 year old as part of the Kindertransport- a rescue mission that took place during the nine months prior to the outbreak of the second world war. The United Kingdom took in nearly 10,000 predominantly Jewish children from Nazi Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland and the Free City of Danzig. The children were placed in British foster, hostels, schools and farms. Often they were the only members of their families who survived the Holocaust.

6 of our peer guides have now been offered the opportunity to train as ambassadors for the Trust- which would involve them visiting local schools and libraries to share their knowledge of the Anne frank story-, a great development opportunity for our students, as they join a growing group of ambassadors worldwide as the Anne frank trust has branches throughout the world.

Thank you to all our staff for their support over the last two weeks
