Stitch a Tree Exhibition

The artwork of students and staff from Maghull High School is currently on display at the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester, as part of the project ‘Threading Bearing Witness’. The project aims to connect communities and individuals across the UK to show support for displaced people around the world. All of those involved stitched a tree which was arranged into a large embroidery called Forest by the artist Alice Kettle. Forest is on display until 24th February 2019.

Design Competition

Over 50 students' artwork has been selected to be entered in to a competition through

'The-Old Piping Bag’.

The students have all drawn designs for insect themed cake moulds, with the winning design being manufactured and sold with 25% of the retail price being donated to the Essen Parent's charity.

The winning mould will also be on show at Sweet Impressions' garden showpiece in Germany.

Year 11 Revision and Intervention

Dear Year 11 Parents and Carers

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas  and are looking forward to what will be a busy but exciting year for your sons and daughters. We would like to share with you the intervention and revision calendar for the Spring term that shows when the extra sessions will run this term. Some parents will have received a separate letter before Christmas to inform them that their child is expected at either English, Maths or Science intervention. Please encourage your child to attend all core subject intervention if they have been invited. All students in year 11 will receive sessions on revision and study skills this term during tutor time and enrichment lessons. They will also receive a special two hour revision skills session from an outside specialist who has previously worked with our students. The independent study that students complete at home is vital towards pupils success. Can I please ask that parents encourage their child to complete at least one hour independent work each night and build that up to two the closer they get to their exams. We look forward to seeing all parents at the second year 11 parents evening on Wednesday 30th January.

Many Thanks

Mr Couttie and the Key Stage 4 team.
