Visit to Conway

A group of Year 9-12 students took part in a residential to the Conway Centre on 16th-18th March. All students took part in a casting workshop which involved face and hand moulding, with very impressive results. All artwork is now on display in school reception, please take a look.

Threading Bearing Witness

Students and staff at Maghull High School are supporting the art project ‘Threading Bearing Witness’ who aim to connect communities and individuals across the UK to show support for displaced people around the world. All of those involved have stitched a tree which will later be arranged into a large embroidery called Forest by artist Alice Kettle. Forest will be displayed at the Whitworth, Manchester, in September 2018 and at the Winchester Discovery Centre, from 15th October to 26th November 2017. All of those involved have relished the opportunity to make artwork for such a good cause.

The metaphor of trees and forests provides a way for us to think about safety and shelter. By coming together to make a large artwork, we are able to actively show our support with those seeking safety and shelter around the world, and hopefully raise funds to help them.
