
London Art Trip

A group of Year 11-12 Art students visited London on Monday 4th December as part of their GCSE/A Level studies. The students had the opportunity to visit some of the countries best loved art galleries including the Tate Modern and The Royal Academy of Arts; most notably visiting 'Jasper Johns: Something Resembling Truth' and 'Dali/Duchamp' exhibitions. A great day was had by all, with all students feeling inspired for their own projects.
Maghull and Lydia Art Competition

35 Year 7-9 students' artwork was selected to enter the Maghull and Lydiate Art Group Competition. Charleigh Tartt (Year 7) and Leanne Graham (Year 8) both came in 2nd place and were awarded a cash prize alongside the opportunity to have their artwork put on display at Lydiate Village Centre. The following students were also highly commended; Liam Mattocks, Riley Maloney, Tegan Warwick, Ruby Faulkner, Louise Cottrell, Lydia Breckell and Connie Hill.

The government’s expectation for good attendance is 96% or above. A report published by the Department for Education in 2016 stated that “pupils with no absence are 2.2 times more likely to achieve 5+ GCSEs A*-C or equivalent and 2.8 times more likely to achieve 5+ GCSEs A*-C or equivalent including English and mathematics than pupils missing 15-20% of KS4 lessons”.
Parents are reminded that time off in term time does have a detrimental impact on outcomes for students and should be avoided wherever possible. Requests for exceptional term time holiday should be submitted directly to Mr Anderson.
