Parent Forum
Students are given the opportunity in Year 8 and 9 to have a say in
the curriculum they follow. This requires them to reflect on their
strengths and weaknesses and make decisions about the best way
forward. As parents try to advise and guide their child down the best
path, it can be quite a stressful time. To help you manage this period,
Mrs Bennett will explain the processes involved and factors which
should determine your child’s choices.
Educational Psychologist
Preparing for and undertaking exams can be a stressful experience
for young people and their families. Based on current psychological
research and thinking, this workshop will look at the effects of stress
on performance, methods of managing stress and how best to
support young people through exam time.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award
The Rights Respecting Schools Award is an initiative by UNICEF UK.
At Maghull High we have received our ‘Recognition of Commitment’
to this award and developed a school charter to support this.
One of the greatest challenges that schools face is to define a clear
set of values – not just rules - that has been developed with the full
involvement of the school community and is actively upheld by pupils.
UNICEF UK’s RRSA initiative helps schools to use the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) as the values
framework that enables this to be achieved.
Right Respecting Schools involves all students and staff at Maghull
High School by highlighting their rights alongside their individual
responsibility to ensure the school is a better place to learn and work.
If you want to learn more about Rights Respecting Schools and how
we are moving forward towards Level 1 accreditation then please join
us on the 21st February 2012.
