Catch Up Premium

Literacy and numeracy catch-up premium

The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2.

In 2016-17, the school received just over £4000 through this funding.  The funds were directed to the following interventions:

• Our catch up literacy and numeracy programme.

• Other interventions supported by our inclusive support team

This enabled the school to provide small group and one to one intervention for those pupils eligible for funding.

As a result of this, 72% of the students identified for literacy support were on target in English with regard to their end of year expectation by the start of year 8.  The other students continue to be supported through the inclusive support team.  From the students identified for numeracy intervention, 75% were on target in maths by the start of year 8. Of the three students remaining, one exceeded their target and the other two continue to be closely monitored and supported.

In 2017-18, the school anticipates a catch up premium of £4400.  The funds will be directed towards continued implementation of our literacy and numeracy programme along with other intervention programmes, as well as additional small group teacher interventions.
