Rights Respecting School

We have now successfully received our Level 1 accreditation and are only the 2nd High School in Merseyside to achieve this award. We are now working towards Level 2.

Lots of exciting developments have taken place during the last year and we now have a two part charter that links the UNCRC rights to the School/classroom charter.

Assemblies have made a massive impact on the development of Rights Respecting Schools in the classroom and around school. The recent curriculum day on Global Citizenship gave every student across the school the opportunity to be involved in a lesson about Rights Respecting Schools and the UNCRC. Subjects across the school are now including the UNCRC rights in their planning and lesson delivery. We welcome any ideas on how to develop Rights Respecting Schools in within the school and in the community.

School Visit

A group of Maghull High School students were invited to the Royal Liver Buildings to continue their impressive work with the Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA). Organised by the 'Rights and Humanities' charity, whose patrons include the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, students spent the morning in the fantastic surroundings of the Liver buildings, overlooking the river Mersey. Pupils were afforded the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Human Rights and learn more about the work that the Rights and Humanity charity does in Liverpool. The students now hope to use what they have learnt to continue to develop the Rights Respecting Schools ethos across Maghull High School. The group of pupils have already put in a lot of their own time, developing action plans, preparing and presenting assemblies and embedding the RRS philosophy across the whole school as we work towards level 2.
