Nathan - Sixth Form

I went to Summerhill Primary School and transitioned to Maghull in September 2015. I have been attending Maghull High School for 5 years. At GCSE I chose to do art, engineering and geography. At A level, I have chosen to do physics, applied science and art. After Sixth form, I aim to get an apprenticeship in something in either medical or pharmaceutical sciences. I have enjoyed my time at Maghull High and have had many positive experiences. I found teachers to be supportive, willing to help and all seem to be experienced and enthusiastic about their subjects.

Emily - Sixth Form

I came to Maghull High from Rice Lane Primary School and have studied here for the past five years. Despite not knowing a large number of people when I first joined, the welcoming atmosphere created by staff and students alike quickly made me feel very comfortable. At GCSE, I chose to study music, drama and Spanish as these were subjects I had thrived on during my earlier years of study at Maghull High School. After achieving high grades in my GCSEs, I made the decision to remain at Maghull High Sixth Form – it was the place where I felt I could reach my full potential – and study philosophy and ethics, music and psychology.

Overall, my time at Maghull High School was filled with enjoyment and unforgettable experiences, particularly from the music and English departments. The teachers were supportive and approachable, never allowing me to feel like I had nobody to talk to when I struggled academically or needed emotional support. I am very grateful for the opportunities that the school has given me: careers talks, motivational speakers, university visits, trips abroad and even theatre trips. These visits made my choices for GCSE and A Level much easier and will continue to provide me with crucial information as I continue my studies here over the next couple of years. I hope to go to Music College after Sixth form and develop my skills further before entering the workplace. I aspire to work in musical theatre.

Erin - Sixth Form

I came to Maghull High School from St Thomas’, Lydiate in 2015 and have been studying here since. Although I didn’t know anybody when I arrived, I quickly felt at ease and developed close relationships with both students and teachers. I chose music, drama and Spanish as my GCSE options, as I enjoyed these immensely and felt that it enabled me to flourish both creatively and academically, which suited my own personality well. The teachers all held our best interests at heart, supporting and helping me to achieve brilliant results. They were friendly and approachable, and my friends and I are grateful for all the chats we would have with them once the lessons had ended.

I particularly find music and maths enjoyable, so I have chosen to continue level three studies with those subjects, along with psychology. We have already had opportunities to visit various universities, have specialist talks with visitors who work in a specific area of work, to travel abroad and to visit the theatre (for music and drama). I’m not sure what field of work I would like to go into yet, but I know we’ll have opportunities to do work experience in an area we’re interested in, and will receive further careers advice.

Joshua - Sixth Form

The seven years I spent at Maghull High School were the best years of my life. I knew this was the school for me on the very first open day I attended back in 2012. Upon reflection, the teachers, both past and present and no doubt future, were superb and were always willing to offer support in whatever capacity that may be, pastoral or academic. This support was available from any teacher, any time you needed it.

The opportunities the school gave me throughout my time there from performing in school plays, trips to Krakow, brilliant talks from inspiring people, representing the school at science fairs, playing sport for the school and even support with an application to the University of Cambridge. At no point was I told I could not do something or was denied an opportunity to take part. Maghull will live long in my memory and I cannot recommend the school highly enough to anyone, whether that be joining in Year 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or even Year 12. You won’t regret coming to this school.
