This section is intended to help students make the right decision for them in relation to the ‘next step’. Below you will find links to useful websites that are intended as a starting point and to provide a handy reference.
Please bear in mind that this list is not intended to be exhaustive and that new resources appear all the time. (The fact that a site appears here does not mean we have extensively vetted it – be careful with confidential personal details and in particular your personal financial information).

Parents Guide to University

Applying to University
The main site is www.ucas.com for course searching, finance information, links to universities etc. as well as applying for entry which opens in June of the year before courses start.
www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk offers advice on choosing the best courses for you. It also puts all universities in to league tables.
A website where you can search for universities based on course title, location and entry grades is www.ukcoursefinder.com. If you are unsure of your plans but know that you want to progress onto Higher Education you can register (free of charge) and complete a short questionnaire that will ‘suggest’ degree courses that might interest you. This process is not an exact science but it can help you to start a search or to confirm your plans.
www.thestudentroom.co.uk is a student only networking site that links students and prospective students with each other for discussions.
To find when each university holds there open days and tasters sessions visit www.opendays.com
