The school is located in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton and is a successful, oversubscribed, mixed 11-18 Performing Arts College with over 1100 students on roll, including a Sixth Form of 250. We have a large and proactive staff team consisting of qualified teachers, learning support staff and administrative staff.

Learning Mentor (Term Time)

The governors are seeking to appoint an excellent learning mentor to enhance the service currently provided by existing teachers and pastoral staff at Maghull High School.  This role is key in addressing the needs of children overcoming barriers to learning both in and outside of school, in order to achieve their full potential and improve their life chances.

An interest in raising academic achievement and monitoring of learning would be a particular advantage, together with a flexible approach to work.  A background in teaching, counselling, youth work or social care would be useful.  Experience of restorative approaches and safeguarding would be an advantage.

Maghull High School is part of the Southport Learning Trust, which currently includes Greenbank High School, Stanley High School and Kew Woods Primary School.  Our Trust welcomes staff who are enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated individuals with a talent for working with young people and a love of education.  We are seeking colleagues who can build robust and effective relationships with staff, parents, students, and the wider community in order to further the ethos of the Trust.

Teacher of MFL

The governors are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher of Spanish who has the drive, skills and enthusiasm to join our successful, highly motivated and supportive modern foreign languages department.

Our vision is to recognise and nurture the unique capabilities of each student, encouraging all to pursue their language study to at least GCSE level.  We aim to raise the aspirations of all students and support them to achieve their full potential, offering a range of extra-curricular and enrichment experiences, such as clubs and trips.  The successful candidate will be required to deliver across the age and ability ranges and to join the team in driving the department to outstanding. 

The school currently offers Spanish as a main language from KS3 to A Level. We are keen to develop our curriculum range to include other languages.
